**At EMHS MESA is a both a club and an elective. You do not have to take the elective to be part of the club. The club meets on Fridays at lunch in room 300.
About New Mexico MESA
New Mexico Mathematics, Engineering, and Science Achievement (NM MESA and/or MESA) is a pre-college program that prepares students for college and careers in mathematics, engineering, science or technically related fields. The MESA program is coordinated through six regional offices, each staffed by a Regional Coordinator, that is hosted at a local higher education institution, including: UNM main-campus (1), Highlands University (1), UNM Gallup (1), NMSU (1), Santa Fe Community College (1) and ENMU Roswell (1).
MESA supports student programs in middle and high schools throughout the state. Each school program is administered by a teacher (typically a STEM education teacher) from the school who receives a stipend for this work from his or her school district. Through these programs, MESA students participate in a variety of enriched math, science and engineering activities including field trips, speakers, workshops, regional and state-wide academic competitions, community service and leadership development projects. NM MESA provides funding and logistical support for these and other activities.
NM MESA also offers a senior “Loyalty Award” to graduating high school seniors who enroll in college the fall they graduate from high school. This award, which can go as high as $1,000.00 per student, is based on the student’s MESA participation during middle and high school, academic grades and standardized test scores.
Our Mission
Empower and motivate New Mexico’s culturally diverse students with science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) enrichment.
Our Vision
Diverse, well-educated, professionals who reach their full potential as leaders through Math, Engineering, Science, and technology Achievement.

2015: Spirit Week and Sticky Fly Fundraiser
We had an amazing time during our sponsored Tutu/Tie Dye day! We raised $85 in 25 minutes thanks to the help of Mr. Wood who graciously allowed us to duct tape him to a tree in the front lawn. All of our members did a great job in getting the whole school involved in the numerous activities we had planned. Go team MESA!
2015: First Field TripOur plans to visit Talking Talons had to get changed due to the weather, but we got to enjoy some alternative activities down in Old Town! First, we went to the Dynatheatre and watched Robots in 3D. WOW! The technology of the robot industry is growing in leaps and bounds. AI (artificial intelligence) is developing at a rapid rate and it might not be too long before robots of this nature are helping us on a daily basis. Next, we walked through the Natural History Museum, then ate at Blake's Lotaburger, and finally we checked out the Rad Gadgets and Only in Albuquerque exhibits at the Albuquerque Art and History museum. Being able to see how STEM and Art collide to make STEAM was an exciting component. Engineering and art are ways to make the science, technology, and math more innovative and aesthetic.
